Unlike traditional smart locks that often require drilling or replacing existing hardware, this model works as a retrofit solution, making it suitable for renters and homeowners alike.

Powering the main unit is a 2450mAh lithium battery, which Xiaomi claims can last up to six months under normal usage. This long battery life minimizes maintenance and reduces the risk of unexpected power loss. Users can also monitor battery status through the app to plan timely recharging or replacement.
Xiaomi first listed the Self-Install Smart Lock on its global website in October 2025. The product is currently available in Japan, where it is priced at ¥12,980 (around $82), and in the UAE for AED 359 (approximately $98).
Support pages are already live for the UK and several European regions, suggesting a wider European rollout may be planned. However, Xiaomi has not yet confirmed pricing or release dates for these markets.
