Every phones have a 15 digit unique IMEI or International Mobile Equivalent Identity number. This unique number cannot be changed for any phone. You can check it on the box of the phone. Apart from this, you can also check it by going to the settings of the phone. You can also find out the IMEI number by dialing *#06# from your phone.

• IMEI number
• FIR copy of stolen phone
• Other mobile details like Brand name, model name and billing invoice.

After the phone is stolen or lost, first of all inform about it to the nearest police station. After this visit the official website of CEIR https://ceir.gov.in/Home/index.jsp# on PC. At present this service has been available for Delhi, Maharashtra and Karnataka.

In CEIR official website, enter all the details of the mobile like brand, model, last location. Here you may also need to give the billing invoice of the mobile. Then enter the alternate number and click on the Get OTP button.

To complete the location request of the lost or stolen phone, you will have to enter the OTP received on the alternate number. After that click on the submit button. After this you will get a Request ID. Keep it handy. It can be used to unblock IMEI numbers.

To prevent misuse of the phone, you should also inform the network operator about the stolen phone. Apart from this, the request goes to block the IMEI number as well. You can check the status of the stolen phone and the police investigation with the help of the CEIR website. The phone itself cannot be tracked. You can block the IMEI number after receiving the phone.
