Google appears to be preparing a fresh visual update for its Pixel Buds 2a, as new renders have surfaced online revealing two additional color options. According to a recent leak shared by Android Headlines, the popular true wireless earbuds may soon arrive in Fog and Berry shades, expanding the current lineup beyond the existing Hazel and Iris variants that launched in August last year.
While Google has not officially confirmed these new colors yet, the leaked renders look highly polished and align closely with Google’s recent design language, suggesting that an announcement may not be far away.
The Fog variant appears in a clean, light gray finish that offers a subtle and minimal aesthetic. This shade is likely to appeal to users who prefer understated accessories that match effortlessly with most devices and outfits.
The Berry color introduces a soft pink tone that feels more playful and eye-catching. Visually, it closely resembles the Peony color previously seen on other Pixel products. This option is clearly aimed at users who want their earbuds to stand out while still maintaining Google’s refined design approach.
In both cases, the charging case retains its familiar white exterior, while the interior color matches the earbuds themselves, consistent with the design treatment of the existing Pixel Buds 2a colors.
Aside from the new colors, there are no changes to the overall design or build. Google continues to rely on extensive ergonomic research, with the Pixel Buds 2a shaped using data from more than 45 million ear scans. This approach helps ensure a comfortable and secure fit for a wide range of users.
The earbuds come with an IP54 rating, offering protection against sweat and dust, while the charging case carries an IPX4 rating for basic water resistance, making the setup suitable for workouts and daily commuting.
Under the hood, the Pixel Buds 2a are powered by the Google Tensor A1 chip and equipped with 11 mm dynamic drivers. This combination delivers balanced sound output along with several premium audio features.
Active Noise Cancellation with Silent Seal 1.5 adapts to the user’s ear shape for improved noise blocking, while Transparency mode allows outside sound to pass through when needed. Additional features include active in-ear pressure relief, stereo spatial audio, and a customizable 5-band equalizer for fine-tuning sound preferences.
For calls, each earbud houses two microphones supported by a wind-blocking mesh and Google AI-based noise reduction, helping to keep voices clear even in challenging environments.
Connectivity is handled via Bluetooth 5.4 with Super Wideband support, which enhances call quality and maintains a more stable connection. Pixel-exclusive features such as Pixel-Perfect Pairing, multipoint switching, and Find Hub integration are also included.
Battery performance remains solid, offering up to 7 hours of playback with ANC enabled and up to 20 hours when combined with the charging case. With ANC turned off, usage extends to 10 hours on the earbuds and up to 27 hours with the case. A quick 5-minute charge can deliver around one hour of listening time, and charging is done through a USB-C port. Notably, the case includes a replaceable battery, adding to long-term usability.
The Pixel Buds 2a support hands-free Gemini access, capacitive touch controls, and infrared in-ear detection for automatic play and pause. These features, combined with Google’s ecosystem integration, make the earbuds especially appealing to Pixel smartphone users.
The leaked Fog and Berry color options suggest that Google is focusing on refreshing the Pixel Buds 2a lineup without altering the core experience. With no changes to hardware or features, these new shades are clearly aimed at giving buyers more personalization choices rather than introducing a new generation.
