Indian Spitz Dog Puppy Price, Characteristics & Life Expectancy

Indian dog owners frequently choose Indian Spitz as pets because of its intelligence and sweetness. Although they are frequently confused with Pomeranian, but both breeds are different breeds.

Indian Spitz Dog History

The Brits brought Indian Spitz Dogs to India, and after decades of breeding, the Indian Spitz is now highly well-suited to surviving the heat and has adapted to the circumstances in India.

The Indian government's stringent import regulations from the 1980s and 1990s helped the Indian Spitz gain popularity. Due of the difficulty in obtaining foreign goods, Indians turned to their native breeds. Although it has adapted to a warmer temperature, the Indian Spitz is identical to the European Spitz. They feel at home in both little apartments and big, open homes. They do, however, require light activity.

Differences between the Pomeranian and Indian Spitz

The Indian Spitz, a similar spitz from Pomerania, is frequently confused with the Pomeranian. They are very different from one another, though; the Indian Spitz is larger and has a shorter coat. Being only a few hundred years apart in lineage, they are extremely closely related and share many morphological traits.

A Pomeranian has thicker fur, rounder ears, a flatter face, and should weigh no more than 3–4 kg. They are comparable besides those slight variations. When compared to Pomeranian, the Indian Spitz is larger and heavier. Besides these distinctions, the Spitz is commonly referred to as a Pomeranian in India.

Some of the basic differences can be illustrated as follows:

  • The Pomeranian is a breed of toy dog. Both in height and weight, it is smaller than even a Lesser Indian Spitz, which normally weighs less than 10 pounds and seldom grows taller than 12 inches.
  • Compared to an Indian Spitz, which has a more conical snout, the Pomeranian has a considerably flatter face.
  • A Pomeranian typically has a thicker, denser coat. Individual hairs might sometimes be difficult to see. The individual hair follicles may, however, more easily be seen in an Indian Spitz's coat since it is less dense.
  • The ears of a Pomeranian are typically not as long or pointed as those of an Indian Spitz.

Indian Spitz Dog Puppy Price In India

Particularly when compared to other dogs, the Spitz dog price in India is relatively reasonable, which has greatly boosted its popularity. It is not an exotic brand of dog, making it less expensive and out of the price range of a family from the middle class.

A little puppy may cost you around Rs. 3,000, whereas a mature dog that is 2 years old may cost you anywhere from Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 8,000. Because of the extra care they take to create a dog with a well-balanced temperament, the pricing of spitz pups may be more if you get one from a knowledgeable and reputable supplier.

In India, the Price of a Indian Spitz puppy range starts from Rs. 3000 to Rs. 8000 depending on the quality of breed, Age, Health, Coat density etc.

Indian Spitz Dog Characteristics & Life Expectancy

Appearance

The Indian Spitz is a little dog with a soft chest, a fair tail, and a double coat of milky white that measures around 33 cm (13 in) at the withers. Their irises can be either bluish or greenish. They may have such expressive expressions because of this, which may have led humans to rely on gazing at each other's irises to determine where we are looking and how we are feeling. Few animals possess this trait, however the irises of many Indian Spitzes are clearly visible.

The white colour of the original Spitz shows its breeding for cold-weather hunting. Although India does not have the same conditions, its lovely colouring has persisted over time. Some may be brown and white. They often have a white appearance.

This breed is very expressive due to its pointed fox-like ears. Both the outer and a large portion of the inside of the ears are covered in thick fur. This may indicate that they require further care and grooming.

Indian Spitzes have fluffy tails that curve over their backs. Their heads are large and lovely, but their legs are barely longer than their body. One of the simpler dogs to live with might be the Indian Spitzer. They are perhaps arguably the most well-liked family dog breed in India. They are easily taught and housebroken, so they will learn to relieve themselves outside from a young age. They are very adaptable canines and require little upkeep in terms of grooming and activity.

Lifespan

Indian Spitz dogs typically live 10 to 12 years, while some have been known to live up to 16 years.

Grooming

Although the Indian Spitz dog breed enjoys keeping themselves clean, they require regular brushing to maintain the health of their lengthy coats. Since their fur can easily dry out if bathed too frequently, their bathing routines can range from twice a month to once a month.

Size Variation

The smaller Indian Spitz, also known as the Lesser Indian Spitz, is roughly 5-7 kg (11–15 lb), and it measures 22–25 cm (812–10 in) at the withers. The larger Indian Spitz, also known as the Greater Indian Spitz, measures roughly 12–20 kg (26–44 lb), and it measures 35–45 cm (14–17+12 in) at the withers.

Although the Indian Spitz is typically milky white, other solid colours like brown and, very rarely, a black-and-white mix like to the Pomeranian are also occasionally seen.
