E. Solve the following.

1. There are 397846 men, 274398 women and 534786 children in a city. What is total population of the city?

Solution

To find the total population of the city, we need to add the number of men, women, and children together.

Number of men = 397,846 Number of women = 274,398 Number of children = 534,786

Total population = Number of men + Number of women + Number of children

So, Total population = 397,846 + 274,398 + 534,786 = 1,206,030

Total population = 1,206,030

Therefore, the total population of the city is 1,206,030.

2. A company purchased a car for Rs. 575300 and a van for Rs. 325000. How much money did the company spend on the vehicles in all?

Solution

To find out how much money the company spent on the vehicles in total, we need to add the cost of the car and the van.

Cost of the car = Rs. 575,300 Cost of the van = Rs. 325,000

Total cost of the vehicles = Cost of the car + Cost of the van

Total cost of the vehicles = Rs. 575,300 + Rs. 325,000

Calculating further:

Total cost of the vehicles = Rs. 900,300

Therefore, the company spent Rs. 900,300 on the vehicles in total.

Number of bags of sugar = 134,749 Number of bags of wheat = 255,385 Number of bags of rice = 235,740

Total number of bags in the godown = Number of bags of sugar + Number of bags of wheat + Number of bags of rice Total number of bags in the godown = 134,749 + 255,385 + 235,740

Calculating further:

Total number of bags in the godown = 625,874

Therefore, the total number of bags in the godown is 625,874.

Total number of books in the library = Number of English books + Number of Hindi books + Number of books of other languages Total number of books in the library = 101,000 + 93,821 + 117,085

Total length of all the ropes = Length of the first rope + Length of the second rope + Length of the third rope

Total length of all the ropes = 235,410 + 143,255 + 234,550

Total earnings = Earnings in January + Earnings in February + Earnings in March

Total earnings = Rs. 340,609 + Rs. 290,638 + Rs. 400,100
