The JLab Epic Open Sport Earbuds are designed with a specific purpose—deliver premium audio without shutting you out from the world around you. These open-ear wireless earbuds combine comfort, durability, and customization, making them ideal for athletes, commuters, or anyone who wants to stay alert while enjoying high-quality music. With standout features like Hi-Res Audio via LDAC, Bluetooth multipoint connectivity, 30+ hours of battery life, and an IP55 rating, JLab packs a lot of innovation into a sleek and affordable package priced at $69.99 in the US.
JLab’s unique open-ear design offers a secure fit that doesn’t plug your ears, allowing ambient sounds like traffic, conversations, or gym announcements to remain audible. The flexible earhooks wrap gently around your ears, providing all-day comfort without pressure points—perfect for active users.
These earbuds are Hi-Res Audio Certified, supporting LDAC codec (for Android), which allows streaming at up to 990 kbps and 24-bit/96kHz. This translates into rich, detailed audio that rivals wired listening, with impressive clarity and bass response despite the open design.
Thanks to Bluetooth 5.4, the Epic Open Sport can connect to two devices simultaneously. Seamlessly switch between your laptop and smartphone without missing a beat—ideal for multitaskers and remote workers.
Using the JLab App, you can customize touch controls, personalize EQ settings (JLab Signature, Bass Boost, or Balanced), and receive over-the-air firmware updates. The intuitive UI makes it simple to tailor your audio experience.
Each earbud delivers 7 hours of continuous playtime, with an additional 23 hours provided by the charging case. Whether you're on a long run or a cross-country flight, battery anxiety becomes a thing of the past.
Built for workouts and outdoor use, the Epic Open Sport earbuds feature an IP55 rating, protecting them from sweat, dust, and light rain. They're tough enough for rugged activities without compromising performance.
These earbuds offer dual control mechanisms—touch and physical buttons—allowing easy navigation of music, calls, and volume even during intense motion. Controls are responsive and customizable through the app.
The JLab Epic Open Sport Earbuds are competitively priced at $69.99. They are available through Amazon, JLab’s official website, and other online retailers, offering great value considering the feature set.

The JLab Epic Open Sport strikes a rare balance between situational awareness and high-quality sound. Unlike traditional earbuds that seal the ear canal, these rest outside the ear, using directional drivers to deliver sound directly to your ear without blocking ambient noise.
This makes them ideal for outdoor runners, cyclists, and commuters, where safety and awareness are just as important as audio quality. The sound signature is clean and vibrant, especially when using LDAC with compatible Android devices. While bass is naturally lighter than in in-ear models, the mids and highs are exceptionally clear, making them great for podcasts, pop music, and audiobooks.
The battery performance is excellent, comfortably lasting multiple days with moderate use. The flexible earhooks are lightweight yet sturdy, staying secure even during high-impact activities. Controls are thoughtfully designed and can be personalized through the app, which is a welcome touch at this price point.
Connectivity is seamless. Bluetooth 5.4 multipoint makes switching between devices effortless, a feature usually reserved for more expensive audio gear.
If you're looking for a safe, comfortable, and high-performing pair of wireless earbuds, especially for outdoor or fitness use, the JLab Epic Open Sport is an excellent choice. Their open-ear design is perfect for staying aware of your surroundings without sacrificing audio clarity. The affordable price tag, combined with LDAC support, long battery life, and customization options, makes them a compelling pick in the sub-$100 category.
However, if you're someone who frequently listens in noisy environments or wants booming bass and active noise cancellation, these might not be the right fit.
The JLab Epic Open Sport Earbuds deliver on nearly every front for active listeners who want the freedom of open-ear audio with premium features typically found in much pricier earbuds. They're lightweight, customizable, and surprisingly powerful for their size, all while keeping you connected to your environment.
Whether you’re jogging through a busy park, biking along a trail, or working out at the gym, the Epic Open Sport gives you the perfect mix of sound, safety, and freedom.
